    Ohio State University Extension Guernsey, in partnership with OhioHealth Southeastern Ohio Medical Center, will be offering Dining with Diabetes! Dining with Diabetes is a cooking school and nutrition education program designed for people with diabetes and their family members or caregivers. Over a series of four classes, cooking demonstrations will help participants learn healthy techniques to use in their own kitchens. The program includes sampling healthy foods and discussion with a Dietitian about skills to manage diabetes.

    Join OSU Extension at the Guernsey County District Public Library to discover the basics of canning, freezing, and other methods of food preservation! These workshops will address topics such as: • Basic food safety principles • Water bath canner and pressure canner methods • Principles including canning tomatoes and pickling • Methods for freezing fruits and vegetables • Reliable, research-supported resources from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, OSU Extension, and others.

During this series of interactive classes, you will learn about relevant food trends, cooking techniques, and common ingredients captured through the decades of the 20th century, as well as sample dishes from each decade. The series will occur on Mondays and Wednesdays, June 29-July 22, Noon-1:00 pm.
